Ogden, Utah in the late 1800s is a burgeoning Western town as the railroad brings new opportunities. Dora and Lou, childhood sweethearts growing up in the heart of Ogden, experience the growth of their relationship right along with that of their city.
Lou, full of ideas for making money in business, is supported in his plans by Dora, clearly as ambitious as her husband. And she enjoys having the means to shop downtown for the latest clothing fashions.
But as the children come, and as Lou’s business endeavors take him further and further away from Ogden and his family, Dora wonders if it is all worth the cost.
Temptations and trials abound for them both, testing the love and devotion they have shared for years. Ever since the first childish, innocent love letters Lou wrote to the coquettish girl who had captured his heart.
