At the dawn of the 20th century, the western world embarked on campaigns to increase the industrial and agricultural output of their domains; none more than the United States, which produced a series of informational bulletins such as this one to supply farmers with a bit of side income as they removed pestilent weeds or cleared psychotropic and potentially medically active characteristics of plants listed herein are well established- nobody denies the symptoms of ingesting datura or hemlock. Such knowledge, a mere century prior, was often considered spiritual or arcane. Despite being largely displaced by more standardized medicine now, certain plant species are still harvested for use to this day in many parts of the less developed world.
